Although it has been the only registration point for asylum seekers in the Netherlands, Ter Apel has implemented a ‘controlled access’ policy over the past few months, meaning that only those deemed most vulnerable are allowed in.
As a result, over a hundred people are forced to wait outside of the centre for an indefinite time, in hope of eventually being able to apply for asylum and receive care. In a situation where most organisations have ceased their operations due to rising tensions on the site, MiGreat has continued to provide assistance to those waiting outside, providing tents, sleeping bags, beverages & other kinds of much needed support.
Alongside this acute, practical support, MiGreat is also actively challenging the structural causes of the broken asylum system and working against the brutal border regime, which is ineffective, harmful and deadly.
Chaos Kitchen is raising money for MiGreat to support the fight for freedom and equality in a world without borders. Donation based.
