The Feminist Library and Chaos Kitchen are coming together for our first VoKu in our Cooks for Books series, raising money for new books for our ever-evolving library at Het Groeneveld, ADM.
If you don’t know us yet, the Feminist Library is an anti-imperialist, anticolonial, antiracist feminist library that understands feminism as a project for the liberation of all. Everyone is welcome. Our collection spans fiction and non-fiction, theory and practice, art and photography, children’s books and zines. We collect work on liberation movements, Black and queer activism, Indigenous knowledges, feminist Marxism, lesbian and trans histories, abolitionism, ecology, feminist art, and embodiment and health. At the moment, our books are in Dutch and English, but we hope to keep growing and diversifying.
Because a library like this can never be complete, we’re hosting Cooks for Books VoKu nights to raise funds to expand the collection. During the meal, we’ll pass around a suggestion box where you can tell us what you would like to read and what you think should be part of a public collection for the city of Amsterdam.

Volkseten Vegazulu is a people’s kitchens existing since the very beginning of Joe’s Garage, June 2005. Your donations are welcome. Food is vegan, no reservation. All benefits go to social & political struggles. Joe’s Garage is a space run by volunteers. Without a collective effort, without your active participation, we’re remaining closed.
